Karlovy Vary, or Carlsbad, the capital of the Czech province of Bohemia became popular thanks to its curative thermal springs. According to legend, almost 700 years ago King Charles IV saw a wounded deer that swam in the healing water. And a monument of deer stands on Deer Jump rock now. It is the symbol of the city.
Of course, the main attraction of Karlovy Vary is thermal springs. The water has a beneficial effect on the body, improves digestion and metabolism, is helpful for the treatment of the musculoskeletal system. Twelve sources are being used today, although, at different times, it was discovered up to five hundred. At sources are built beautiful colonnades, where it is pleasant to walk, sipping mineral water. From the hottest of the 12-meter geyser Vřídlo through the amazing elegant Mill (Mlýnská) colonnade and to the Market (Tržní) colonnade through the historic city center.
Karlovy Vary is a museum of magnificent architecture. Just have a slowly walk along river Tepla promenade, and each facade will meet you with its history. It is a pleasure just walk here, leisurely enjoying the landscapes and breathing in the fragrant air of the resort.
On a high hill on the other side of a mountain, at the foot of which Retro Riverside is located, above the town rises Diana lookout tower. The tower was built a century ago and allows you to admire the magnificent panorama of Karlovy Vary from a height of 547 meters above sea level. You can reach it by foot, walking through the resort forest, or by funicular.
